Will Jenkins saw sensational pole position pace go cruelly unrewarded during a hugely-impressive debut outing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park this past weekend (26/27 April).

Following up his race-winning exploits in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB with a natural graduation into the Carrera Cup GB, Jenkins makes the move as part of the coveted Wera Alliance Academy young driver programme from leading BTCC outfit Alliance Racing and Wera Tools.

The 20-year-old talent prepared for the start of the new campaign with a hugely positive pre-season testing programme, taking in trips to multiple circuits. Getting more comfortable in his new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car throughout, he was ready to go racing on the opening weekend.

Jenkins battled red flag stoppages and traffic to log over 40 laps across a pair of free practice sessions on Thursday. Building up speed through the day, he shaped up well against a talented Pro-Am entry that includes a number of experienced Carrera Cup GB drivers.

With that mileage under his belt, the Staffordshire racer set himself the goal of an overall top ten result in qualifying. He would smash that target though, with a brilliant performance in his Team Parker Racing machine seeing him finish fifth overall and secure the Pro-Am class pole position.

Jenkins was full of confidence heading into race day and that showed at the start of the opener, with a perfect launch off the line propelling him into third place heading into the first corner. Unfortunately, there would be heartbreak moments later though, as he was tagged in the rear by another car.

The Wera Tools-liveried machine was spun around and then collected by another car. While Jenkins was able to recover from the gravel and continue in the race, damage sustained in the incident meant he was only able to fight back to 12th overall and fifth in Pro-Am.

There was further frustration for the Stone-based racer too, with damage from race one going on to hinder his progress in race two as well. Starting 12th on the grid, he put in a determined performance to maximise the car underneath him and came away in 10th overall and fifth in Pro-Am again.

Jenkins, who races with the crucial support of personal partners Hopkins Race Transporters, Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre, Culina Group, Barkers Finance, The Green Group and SAF Holland, continues his 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season next month at Snetterton (24/25 May).

Will Jenkins: “While the races didn’t go my way, I am incredibly proud of my performance in my first weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. To come away with the Pro-Am pole position and top five result in my debut qualifying session was beyond my wildest dreams coming into the weekend.

“The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is a tricky one to master, but I made consistent progress through pre-season testing and to see all that hard work come together in qualifying was a great feeling. Sadly that didn’t translate into the race results we deserved through no fault of my own, but I managed to salvage some points at least.

“There are lots of positives to take away from the weekend and I can’t wait to get back out at Snetterton for round two. A huge thank you to Team Parker Racing for all their efforts, including the great work getting me back out for race two, and to all my partners for making this Carrera Cup GB season possible.”
